international fall

matchweek two saw international fall again, this time taking a massive beating from mexico 3.

the star of the match for international was clearly brian whiffen-peters. playing some total futsal, whiffen-peters played forward and back, flowing freely up the flanks, shifting dangerously into the middle and poaching in front of goal for some widked chances. sadly none of those chances came to fruition and international fell 6 - nil at the hands of mexico 3.

mexico 3 turned out to be too strong in front of the net, due to a breakdown in international's defensive play and the striking skill of mexico 3's big center forwards.

unless whiffen-peters was on the pitch, international's defense consisted of a sole back -- either william bunn or mashon (montenegro) -- leaving mexico 3's dangerous strikers with plenty of time to set up and find the only weak spot in goalkepper matt huddlestone's game: the top corner. huddlestone made an enormous amount of great saves, as usual, but when the strikers had time to set up there was nothing he could do. it appears that international are missing their captain and defender, brad simkulet, after all.

international's attack wasn't entirely inneffective, but when they had their chances they just didn't take them. more often than not their shots were off target, and when they were on target they were too weak to be a threat.

the brightest spot in international's evening was the coming of two powerhouse girls: kendra and michelle. so long as international finds some more xx chromosomes, so that kendra and michelle can have a rest, they may become a threat in the league. for now, however, they will have to make due with the basement and simply revel in their passion for the beautiful game.
