Ajax beaten by Spakenburg
I'm still optimistic about Ajax' chances for the title this season, but the start isn't very promising. Allthough Spakenburg is one of the top amateur teams, they are still amateurs. I have no idea why Ajax lost with 3-2, but i'm sure that new Ajax coach Henk ten Cate will sort it out. Congratulations to Spakenburg!
Denny Landzaat leaves AZ for Wigan
Dutch international Denny Landzaat is leaving Dutch top team AZ for English relegation candidate Wigan Athletic. Allthough 30 year old Landzaat was looking for a transfer abroad, i can't imagine that had a club like Wigan in mind. Maybe he was so fed up with the tender tyranny of Louis van Gaal, that he got less picky.

wigan may be a relegtion candidate, but i'd have to say that they were quite impressive last year. chelsea opened last season playing wigan, and barely won 1-0, in extra time.
so....maybe it wasn't a bad move afterall. it might take a lot of work, but wigan might stay in the EPL for a little while.
i hope for landzaat that they do, but it does seem weird that he'd leave a european bound club for wigan. but who the hell knows why these things happen really.
He also could chosen for Espanyol, but he really wanted to the premier league.
So there is some logic there.
