I must say I'm happy with the name. Let the team's nickname develop naturally over time rather than going for the reflection of another team's glory (i.e. Real Salt Lake or Club Deportivo Chivas USA or D.C. United) or the comical (Red Bull New York, New York/New Jersey MetroStars...).
Hopefully the team will opt for developing Canadian talent at the MLS level and perhaps more importantly I hope they are able to gain the support of the Toronto community in order to survive for more than a couple of seasons.
Also in the news today there is now talk that Canada will use the new Toronto stadium to boost a bid for the 2011 Women's World Cup which would be quite a coup if they can pull it off.
a while back, i read that toronto fc has to adhere to the mls rules of having a set amoung of home grown players, but that there's must all come from canada, which should help the canadian national team if it is true.
hopefully i can check out a game - i think it'll be interesting for sure. the women's world cup hey? i'd check that out.
