moaninho clause

in case you ever doubted the wingnut that is jose moaninho here's the biggest doozy of them all: football 365 has discovered that jose decided to snub wenger's handshake because arsene didn't thank him for his christmas card. to call these shenanigans childlike is to insult children. i really don't know how to descrive the silliness, but i can't wait to rad what y'all have to say.

i was just reading about the World Player of the Year gala where Lampard lost to Ronaldinho. Lampard is actually a gentleman. He summed things up right regarding managers and clubs (even though he didn't directly comment on it)in that "the events off the pitch must not overshadow another great game." (in reference to the game vs. Barca last year.

In short - moaninho would help keep his team in the good books publicly if he just shut up.

still, gio, what if his whole purpose is to divert the presses attention to himself? i've noticed that we never hear anything bad about his players, and even this essien thing -- which would usually be much bigger (say in the days of keane or vieira) -- is nothing more than a blip in the press.

if the method to his madness is to free his players from press stress, i have to say it is a rousing success. and yet another reason why he's a great manager (even if i love to hate the guy)

don't know if it's true, but it is an interesting thought.

i never thought of that - if it is, its sheer genious. but is he capable of such a thing?

Great point Brad. It reminds me of what Gretzky did in Salt Lake during the Olympics for Team Canada.
