international mrc grab a point

It's finally happened. After their terrible performance against Fortuna Rumble, Inter MRC have managed to grab a point off the Individuals with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night.

Fortuna Rumble took Inter MRC apart the on Matchday 3, scoring 8 times on goal keeper Hayder Al-Rekabi. The entire Inter squad looked lackluster and overwhelmed by the physical presence of Fortuna Rumble's front line. Even the extensive bribes laid down by injured player/manager Simkulet couldn't change the final scoreline.

But things improved greatly on Matchday 4. An injury to the Individuals' player/manager Matt lessened his considerable presence in the Individuals midfield, although he still battled with everything he had, and the return of Inter MRC's star, Brian Pederson, and the first appearance of ex-Polish professional, Robert (Rapid Vien), was just what Inter needed to steal a point on the draw.

The first half was hard fought on both sides, and it looked to end goal less, but the Individuals pulled ahead with a fine goal on stand-in goalkeeper Brad Quiring. It was a long time coming, considering they had hit the crossbar at least once and the uprights a couple of times, but the Inter MRC defense, led by Candace Matchett, responded well to the goal crisis and shut up shop for the rest of the game.

The second half saw more of the same gritty play from both sides, with Inter MRC coming out on top with the chances. Brian Whiffen-Peters took over for Quiring in net, showing, once again, his considerable range of skill, which allowed Quiring to enter the outfield play where he dominated the back with his physical presence.

Pederson, controlling the flow of play with his excellent ball control, was the decisive factor, however. He hooked up with Denis on a number of attacks, but finally scored a beautiful goal off of a cross from Prasek to pull Inter even with only a few minutes left to play.

Brad Quiring's physical play almost cost Inter MRC the lead when a hard tackle left one of the Individuals on his back. For a moment it looked as though the ref was awarding a penalty shot, but he only awarded a free kick and Matchett, on the right side of the wall, did an excellent job of clearing the ball.

From there on the attack was all Inter MRC and only the excellent goal keeping of the Individuals ' man in the pipes kept Inter from earning full points.

The unanimous decision for Inter MRC "man of the match" was Candace Matchett -- our rock in defence.
