Reina Sees Red

the first real footie game I watched was between the reds and the blues almost one year ago. everyone was cheering for liverpool, so i decided to go against the tide and cheer for chelsea (and thus began my infatuation with joe cole). it was a boring game - a nil nil draw.

today, however, was something else.

the game started off in favor of liverpool - they were dominating, controlling the ball, but it only takes one break for chelsea to capitalize. cole earned a corner, and gallas put it away. thus began liverpool's descent.

the key factors?

- john terry's defensive genius against giant crouch. i now know why and have a great respect for terry. he's brilliant.

- jose manuel reina - in a bizarre move, commits himself to tackling eidur gudjohnsen in the corner, and getting pissed at the fact that gudjohnsen's hand ball is not called

- seconds later, arjen robben's constant yapping in reina's ear (reminiscent of esa tikkenen) provokes reina to slap robben accross the face, in clear view of the ref, standing a mere 10 feet away.

so, robben dives, and reina gets a red card. not a good thing for liverpool if they want to secure second place in the premiere league. he might as well have stated his loyalty to man-u.

interesting game though. much more lively than the last time i saw these two teams meet.

reina is clearly a moron, but i'd love to meet yappy little robben in a pub in london. i would fuck him up. and not in the good way ;)

how is reina a moron? okay, so it does seem to be a weird choice to tackle gudjohnsen way the hell out to the side, but i think i would have lost it on robben too (but we all know i have short fuse, so i guess that isn't saying too much). besides, chelsea gets away with everything - it's no wonder people get pissed off with them and take their anger out on them and then they just milk it. fuck - i hate robben. too bad none of the attacks on chelsea ever end in serious injury. people need to start going in to injure them. i guess they know they just have so many guys to replace their injuries that it would take so long to actually make a dent. i sure hope that it all turns to shit for them soon though.

kiki is PISSED!

i'm not a robben fan either, but reina put his team in a very tough position. i think in this case it would have been best if he kept his cool. moron might be a harsh word to use, but he definitely didn't put his team ahead of his own emotions. its too bad because i like liverpool too. at the same time, chelsea is my fav team, so i'll take any win i can - even if i don't like all the players.
